Top 10 Thoughts

Well, the good thing about the president bumping the show off a day is that we have to wait less time for the next show.

Oh. My. God. Matt in the bottom 2? Say it ain't so America! I told you to vote for him! What's that all about? I don't get it. Producer manipulation. I don't know. People just forgot about him, being first. Kiss of death. Oh I hope Anoop never goes first.

What was up with group sing? Unlike other people I love the Group Sing. But this year I hate it. I love the Group Sing because it's live, it's cheesy, it's awkward, it's a mess and it's something you can just laugh at, along with them and you just wanna pull them in a big hug like after a third grade talent show and say oh you tried, it's so great you tried.

This year? I don't know what they are thinking. First the Group Sings are pre-recorded and this last one was PRE-TAPED. That wasn't live. And if you fell for it, shame on you. That's just sick. I hated it. I am still so mad. Just make it like it was! It couldn't be Scott, it's not all Scott. It's just laziness, I guess.

The Pimpmercial was a trainwreck as well. Pocket full of Sunshine my ass. It was atrocious and also, boring. Why don't they feature Anoop more?

But at least the right person went home. Sarver, your time was up during Group 1 of the Semifinals and how you made it this far, I don't know, a true miracle on earth, I would say. Good for you.

But I can't hate on Sarver too much. He's a really nice man. You could see it. So gracious. While Matt looked like he wanted to die, Sarver took it in stride and also tried to comfort him. Good for you Sarver. Thank you for comforting my man.

So the rumor is the Top 9 Theme is No. 1 downloaded on iTunes. Soon as I get a list, I'll give my song suggestions.

Dear Mr. President

A Tuesday without Idol should never happen. It totally throws off my whole week. Are you a Grey's Anatomy fan or something? If not, you should move this type of thing to Thursday. Seriously, this is twice now. And I love you. I think you are the greatest President in the world. I voted for you, I campaigned for you, I went to your Inauguration and everything. But seriously, I would love it if you move these primetime press conferences and stuff to Monday or Friday or Thursday! I think it would be better. I really do. Just a suggestion.

Love,

Idol Advice

Well, I better just gear up for voting tomorrow. After the show, I will advise you on who to vote on based on the best/most entertaining performance of the night. Look you can be the best but boring. And you can be good but very entertaining. To me, Idol is about singing plus personality. I think the person who is giving me the most through that TV deserves to stay.

Of course, I will be voting for Anoop! I mean, that's just fact. Sky is blue, Cows make milk, I vote for Anoop... regardless of how he does (He always does great btw).

How do you feel about that voting strategy? Do you tend to stick with one person or does your vote change week by week by week?

Also, I don't believe in vote spiiting. That's just dumb. It's also a personal decision.

I can't wait until tomorrow night. Motown Week here we COME!

Studio Recordings

You know, it was so great when they started having those Studio Recordings in Season 6. Much better than waiting for a CD in the middle of the season with one Studio track by each idol. It must be so exciting for all the Idols to go into the recording studio every week and sing a full version of their song. Great training for their real careers. I bet for a lot of them, this is their first time in the recording studio. (This year I believe Matt G., Kris, Anoop, Scott and others I can't remember had CDs out before so probably for all of them it's no big deal but it's a big deal to me! I feel so happy and proud of them.)

However, my advice is... let's get a studio recording of the group song of the week. Especially, since they are PRE-RECORDING them (more on that later) wouldn't it just be so easy to release that stupid track to iTunes? I like group songs. Lots of people don't like them, but I do. One of the best tracks on the Season 1 CD is the group recording of California Dreamin'. And let's face it. 8 out of those 10 finalists sucked at singing. But the California Dreamin' is great!

So I hope TPTB will consider this. Who knows. I might actually BUY it! (probably not.)

My fave studio recording out of all seasons probably has to be You Give Love a Bad Name by Blake in season 6. I tried to find a youtube but alas... no luck.

The Desperation of Alexis Grace

Hey, I can't blame Randy. For a while, I got Allison and Alexis confused all the time. It has nothing to do with how they look and what they sing. It's just that their names are similar! We all know Randy isn't the brightest star on the panel. Give him a break, Alexis. Don't look at me like that!

Yikes, she had a death glare.

So then we saw Alexis sing for her life. And it was awful. Heart-wrenching. Too raw and real to laugh at. You could only stare and listen to the producers in the Ivory Towers laughing all maniacally.

MuhahahahahahahahahahahmuuuuuuuuuhahahahahahahahahMUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

SHUT UP!

It was a meltdown of epic proportions. Shaking and cracking and breaking and searching and dripping with desperation, pouring out of her every pore, her soul exposed right before us, something we might have wanted to see before, but not now. Not like that. No, it wasn't supposed to be this way. Alexis will watch this and cringe. We cringed when it was live. She wanted it so bad. She actually believed... that they were talking about her. That they were deliberating and this sing-out really matter.

Note to Idols:

DON'T EVER EVER EVER THINK THAT THE JUDGES ARE BASING THEIR DECISION ON ON YOUR SING-OUT PERFORMANCE. THIS DECISION HAS BEEN PRE-MADE. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW YOU'RE SINGING IN THAT MOMENT.

Let's think back. To the Semi-finals. Simon said they were CASTING the show. Remember that? I don't care that he said that because Anoop got in the "Top 13" because he was cast and so what, he can sing, so it's all good. He was cast before those other yokels. Don't even get me started. Anyway, this ain't no singing competition. It's an everything competition. It's how you sing and perform and dress and act. It's who you are and who you could be. Most importantly, it's what you can do for the show and producers. It's about money and ratings. It's about casting.

So everyone is speculating that they will use this save for Adam or Danny. I think that's a distinct possibility. But also, I'm going to put Kris in there if he continues to do well, LiL maybe. The possibilities are slim for the rest. Even my Anoop. They already "saved" him once.

So Idols, when (and it probably will be WHEN-- there's only one winner) you get kicked off the show... let it go. Don't let them suck you into the drama. Mark my words. If Sarver had been voted off instead of Alexis Simon would have said, you were the one I was thinking of saving. DUH!

When you get kicked off, embrace it. Give your fans one last show (until the tour). Think about all the happy memories. Think about the talent you truly have. And just... go for it. Not in a desperate way. Or a horrible way. Or an uncomfortable way. A good way! Just being yourself. No pressure. Don't let them pressure you. They are probably not going to save you. So take yourself out of that moment and sing in a way where people will be going, gosh, Sarver really was good, after all.

I just want to see everyone else go out with dignity. We will see you again. And you have fans who love you, even if you didn't get enough votes. Always know that, Idols, and that'll get you through.

Don't let the show use you like that, Idols. Don't let them. We want you for you. We, the loyal viewers and voters, do not need this extra drama. Don't give in.

At least Alexis can be with her kid now. That should make her happy.

Motown Week

So word on the street (okay, straight from Ryan's mouth) is that next week is Motown Week for our Idols. What should they sing? I have a few suggestions.

There are so many Motown songs. In order to narrow it down I looked at 100 Greatest Motown Hits. I also used my imagination. This list is full of the Temptations. I can't help that they were the best.

Scott: He needs to get more interesting (for something other than being legally blind, which he didn't even ask to be known for in the first place). I think that will be very hard for him but it's certainly worth a try. He also needs a fun song to play on the piano because he's not ready to step out from behind it and I don't want him to. Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing by Marvin Gaye. It's a duo song but whatever. It wouldn't hurt if he tried to play two people. I found this Beyonce/Justin Timberlake version. What could be better?

Kris: He's so adorable! He just needs to keep that train going. Kris has showed a fun side and a serious side. AI viewers can't take the ballads too long. This week Kris needs to pull out something more up-tempo and he should bring that guitar back. I suggest Since I Lost My Baby by the Temptations for him. It's an energetic song, but it will also bring out his cute, sensitive side. I think it would suit him well and keep him in this competition another week. He should sing the Temptations version because it's faster than Luther Vandross' version and the general public will be less familiar with it so in a way it will seem new and different to them. The downside is that Simon might say it's a simple song but I still think it would do him well.

Danny: Well, he should choose something that matches his glasses. Since I don't know his glasses, I'll just choose randomly. I think he should sing something a little racy. Danny likes those feel good, preachy songs. It gets tiresome week after week. I am not a Gokey fan but something I feel like I could be pulled in that direction because he has a good voice, he just annoys me. So this week, Danny should switch it up with something we wouldn't expect and do a good job with it. I was thinking something sexy at first but I don't like that idea now. He's not sexy. He'll never be sexy. Did you see him in the Marshmallow Man jacket? It didn't fill itself out. Let's go with... Papa Was a Rolling Stone by the Temptations.

Adam: He scares me. I don't understand him. This week, I want to be happy with him instead of frightened. I think he should tone down the screaming without sacrificing the theatrics. Smiling Faces Sometimes by Undisputed Truth and covered by the Temptations is theatrical and dramatic all on it's own. He won't need to do much to it, which is a good time. Show us you can just sing a song! But at the same time, it's heartfelt, it's passionate. He can also tweak it some. I love that song so if Adam sang this, I just might love him.

Megan:
Quirky (?), weirdo Megan. I don't understand her either. I hope she'll be recovered this week cause I can't take anymore of her coughing. Simple, simple Megan. Simple is good for her. I don't think she should switch it up. She should keep it the same. Let's go with Baby Love by the Supremes. Perfect for her awkward shimmy hip dance.

Allison: She needs something big! A belter. Okay, yeah, let's go with Tina Turner River Deep, Mountain High. I don't know if she has the life experience to put the conviction and knowledge behind the words but I think it would be fun to hear her sing this. And it's a Motown song cause the Four Tops did it first or something.

Lil: Oh my my my. She has to BRING IT this week. Just last week she was saying R&B is her thang and what's more R&B than Motown. She has to pick the perfect song. It's gonna be tough for her. I actually think she'll choke and end up in the bottom three this week because the expectations were so high. No offense to Lil, but I think in terms of female R&B "divas" that this show has had, she's the bottom of the barrel. But she does have one of the best bodies out of them. What would be an impressive song for her to sing? A House is Not a Home. It works so well for people on this show. I think it could work hard for Lil. Very heartfelt but not overly showy. She could do it so well. I think it's a Motown song. Tamyra did a great job with it.

Sarver: I call him Sarver. I don't know why. It suits him better than his actual name. So he says he wants to be a soul singer. What? Okay... delusional. No, no, no, he knows himself better so... go 'head. Well I think he should keep it simple and sing something really soulful. Let's get gritty with it. That's why I'm suggesting Marvin Gaye, Inner City Blues. This is not a pretty song. This is something you have to put your soul behind. Let's see if he's up to the challenge. It's probably too high for him though.

Matt G: A fave of mine. He can kill a Motown song, I just know it. I want him to still play the piano. I love seeing those fingers move. I just hope someone lops that thing off his forehead. Yuck. It's like a third eye. Poor Matt. Anyway, Signed, Sealed, Delivered. It's been done to death on Idol, I know. But Matt G. can bring a new spin to it. It's perfect for his piano, his voice and his riffing. So I say, go for it. Fantasia and Ruben both sang it. It's a winner's song!

Anoop-Dogg!: Not gonna lie. He's my fave. Anoop is the man! And in Motown Week, he's gonna bring it even harder than Country Week. It'll be so great to watch. I don't know what to say. I really don't... he has to choose. What can I advise? I just want my Anoopy to be fun AND great this week. But no jumping around, please, Anoop. You can't do that anymore. But you can move, don't worry. What about Do I Do by Stevie Wonder. Love that song. He loves Stevie. It's fun, it's hip, it's singable. You go boy! Whatever he does, he'll be great.
